I
As I was driving through the winding roads
Of the Rocky Mountains
The trees are full of green leaves
And the meadow starry flowers
But autumn’s fiery colors
Jumped out in my mind
Then winter’s desolation and drab boughs
Awaits another season of green life
Suddenly I knew
Time is not a straight line
But endless cycles
Life always leads to death
Death the beginning of new life
II
I had a dream
While I was half awake
A weird dream indeed
A black snake with yellow rhombus
Its scaly skin thus perfectly patterned
Raised its head flickered its tongue
As if telling me the eternal secret
Then I saw a dainty sea shell
Half buried in the sand on the shore
I picked up and examined it close
The marvelous spiral spine
Follows Fibonacci sequence in precision
It finally dawned on me
Who created the universe
III
Spring is upon us
With its juicy dripping greens
I took a stroll in the fields
Enjoying a moment with my mute friends
Upon the lake there was a flock of geese
The daddy and mommy and their goslings
Momentarily they wobbled on shore
Mom in the front dad in tow
Parading their downy brood with circumstance and pomp
Even dumb birds know to care for their young
Whence the love and urge come from
Given all they need is a full stomach?
Ah, I know
It is thou tricking us to believe
We create our own young
It is thou planting this desire in us
So we seek our mates and fall in love
Just to propagate the line which is truly yours
In order we carry on your plan for this universe
Whilst thou art our true parent
Or we would stay self-centered all our life
Indulge and binge and least of child rearing
‘Cause left to our own device
Who would take this most burdensome task?
Epilogue
You look you don’t see
You listen you don’t hear
You eat you don’t taste
You sniff you don’t smell
You touch you don’t feel
You talk you don’t think
The signs are everywhere
But for the caul on your head
And the scale in your eyes
