Thrive on Loneliness

Thrive on Loneliness

By TreasureEveryMoment

The other day

A couple of teens

With cigarettes in their hands

Said to a boy, “Come, come with us! It’s going to be fun!”

“No, thanks.”

The boy used homework as an excuse

And waved a bye to his friends.

The next day

The same boy got another invite

“Come, come with us, at least you won’t be lonely.”

“No, I like being alone.”

He politely turned down his friend and a young lady.

“I thrive on loneliness.”

With a wink,

He walked a separate way.

I observed and applauded the boy for his wit and courage,

To not fall into temptation,

Nor succumb to peer influence.

Sometimes teens can be both naïve and cruel,

They’ll stick a label on you -

“Socially awkward”

And knock you over.

I wish for you, my dear child, like the boy above,

That you find the strength and wisdom

To pick the right path.

If the path is a lonesome one,

I hope you understand

Being alone doesn’t mean being powerless.

A lonely tree in a dessert speaks to the world.

The moon in the sky is worshipped by billions of eyes.

Hold onto your belief,

Keep walking,

You might find yourself in places no one has ever been.
