Ms. Almonte

Ms. Almonte is one of the best teachers I’ve known!! She is an ELL teacher, and has a very nice smile. She is very smart. Her eyes are startling, in a cool and interesting way. When I first met her, her eyes were a blazing green, but when I last saw her, her eyes were hazel. I have also seen them blue. It confuses me somewhat, but it is also very fascinating.
When I first met her, it was in ELL class. I still remembered that day clearly. I was very confident as I went to meet some of my new classmates. I had already gone through normal class, and was sure that the ELL class would be the same. The moment I stepped in the classroom, I felt nervous about whether the teacher will accept me or not. Thankfully, when I saw Ms. Almonte, I felt relieved. I knew I was going to like the time I spend in that class.
Always, she corrects my mistakes. When I was in her class, I enjoyed it a lot. She was a nice and reasonable teacher, and she often teaches us about writing. I love writing, so I enjoyed her class. Also, she makes all of her class feel good about themselves, unlike some of the teachers I’ve known. Ms. Almonte has a way of telling you your mistakes in a way that makes you really and truly appreciate them. I’ve always felt comfortable in ELL, and was sad when I had to move up. But that was not the end of my friendship with my ELL teacher.
During one summer（in 2009）, Ms. Almonte gave me envelopes with stamps and addresses on them for me to mail her letters. I am regretful that I never wrote that much, being forgetful and excited about summer vacation. However, when she replied, I was amazed! I’d never really gotten a letter to me that talked about something normal, not just medical bills or school registration. When I read the letter, it seemed just like in the books, where I got a letter from a friend. Ms. Almonte is a really good friend as well as a teacher.
Ms. Almonte introduced my family to the North Shore Assembly of God Church. I loved it immediately. She also introduced me to the Friends Club. It’s from Fun Club, at the North Shore Assembly of God Church. Without her, I would’ve never heard of it, and might not make that many friends that quickly. She introduced me to the Friends Club, and I immediately felt at home there. She introduced me to the people there, and asked me how I felt there. Of course I felt wonderful!!! Friends Club is awesome, and so are the people there. Ms. Almonte made me felt more at home at a lot of places—at school, and church, and at the Friends Club!
Another sign of her friendship is when we were about to move, she told us we could sleep in her house while she visits Ohio. I thought that was really generous of her, and she even gave us the key!
When I wrote my stories for contest, Ms. Almonte always checked it, and corrected my mistakes. I felt ‘safer’ to submit the stories after she checked them. She helped me a lot in the contest. She was probably half of the reason I even won!
Feb.19th is her 50th birthday, a very important birthday in her life!!! I wrote this story for Ms. Almonste, wishing her a happy, fun, exciting, and memorable birthday. She has helped us a lot, just out of kindness, and I really appreciate that.
I think Ms. Almonte is a very kind, friendly, nice and generous person, and I am glad to know her.
Susan, an 11-year-old girl who was ever Ms. Almonte's student in 2008-2009 school year, moving from Massachusetts in the end of 2011 to Illinois.
